tartar: The result of hardened plaque that builds up around the teeth and under the gum line.

thrush: An unusual explosion of naturally existing yeast in the mouth that causes an infection characterized by white patches.

tonsillitis: An infection of the tonsils that can sometimes result in bad breath.

tonsils: Areas of lymphoid tissue on either side of the throat.

tooth decay: The result of dental caries, an infectious disease that can damage the structures of the teeth.

toxin: A poisonous substance.

ulcer: An adverse erosion that can occur on the skin or internally. Ulcers cause tissue to become inflamed and sometimes infected.

xerostomia: A condition known as dry mouth that is an indication of malfunctioning salivary glands. If persistent, it can lead to other health problems.

yeast infection: An overabundance of the yeast Candida that can attack parts of the body, both externally and internally.
